Neighbourhood Consultancy Ltd (NCL) specialises in ‘community engagement’ at a grass roots level. We are situated at 163 Gerrard St which sits at the cross roads linking Lozells and Newtown. NCL has a proven track record in delivering locally based projects and has the experience needed to carry targeted outreach work and event management.
NCL has experience in the field of urban regeneration and housing. It has and continues to be used by both Birmingham City Council (through the Neighbourhood Managers) and Urban Living to deliver projects within high multiple deprivation communities.
Senior consultant Rajinder Rattu has for several years been working within the communities of Handsworth, Aston, Nechells, Lozells, Newtown and Soho where he has gained considerable experience of working within deprived and challenging neighbourhoods of Birmingham.
NCL works with a variety of locally based resident led groups. Many of these groups came about due to the high levels of deprivation within their communities. For regeneration to be successful it has to have the involvement of local communities so that they are able to help shape and steer such developments as they bring the local knowledge.
NCL has a proven track record in project management. It has successfully and continues to manager programmes on behalf on Kate Foley the Lozells Neighbourhood Manager and Neil De-Costa the Soho Neighbourhood Manager. Some of the projects delivered include the Lozells Community Awards, the Lozells Community Networking event, the Neighbourhood Forums Capacity Building programme, the Soho Neighbourhood Management Conference, and the Soho ‘Get Involved Day’ to mention but a few. More recently NCL was awarded the contract to help recruit active citizens from within several deprived communities onto the CUDOS training course which was aimed at giving local residents an insight into urban regeneration and how they can better understand and input into it.
Working at a neighbourhood level means working within a multi-partnership framework, and NCL has built up good working links with various partners and stake holders including Neighbourhood Managers, West Midlands Police, West Midlands Fire Service, Ward Councillors, Member of Parliament, school teachers, extended school coordinators, City Council officers and community and voluntary representatives
